The Jubilee Party has called on political leaders across the country to exercise restraint in their public statements, warning that remarks discouraging international tourists and investors from coming to Kenya could have far-reaching consequences on the country's economy and the livelihoods of millions of citizens.

In a press statement released on Monday and signed by Secretary General Hon. Moitalel Ole Kenta, the party said it had noted recent public appeals urging foreign tourists and prospective investors to suspend visits and investments in Kenya until after the next General Election.

While acknowledging growing public frustration over governance, insecurity, shrinking democratic space, and allegations of violence in politics, Jubilee maintained that efforts to push for political change should not come at the expense of the country's economic interests.

The party reiterated that it has consistently condemned the infiltration of criminal gangs and hired goons into political activities and called on the government to guarantee the safety of all Kenyans, uphold constitutional freedoms, and restore public confidence in law enforcement.

However, Jubilee cautioned that statements that could be interpreted as discouraging tourism or foreign investment risk hurting ordinary Kenyans whose livelihoods depend on those sectors.

According to the party, tourism remains one of Kenya's leading foreign exchange earners, supporting hundreds of thousands of jobs in hospitality, transport, tour operations, conservation, agriculture, and small businesses. It added that foreign investment is equally critical in driving industrial growth, creating employment opportunities, and strengthening the national economy.

The statement emphasized that those who would suffer the greatest impact from declining tourist arrivals or reduced investment are not political leaders but workers in the hospitality industry, tour guides, farmers supplying hotels, transport operators, artisans, entrepreneurs, and countless families who rely on a vibrant economy.

Jubilee also reaffirmed that Kenya remains an attractive destination for tourism and investment, citing the country's natural beauty, resilient institutions, and welcoming people. The party stressed that its disagreements with the current administration are based on policy and governance issues and should not undermine confidence in Kenya as a nation.

The party further encouraged visitors, investors, development partners, and friends of Kenya to continue engaging with the country, expressing confidence in Kenya's democratic institutions and constitutional processes.

At the same time, Jubilee urged the government to restore investor confidence by strengthening the rule of law, protecting life and property, respecting constitutional rights, promoting political tolerance, and ending violence and intimidation in public affairs.

The party concluded by appealing to leaders in both government and the opposition to exercise prudence in their public discourse, saying political competition should never overshadow the need to safeguard Kenya's economy, reputation, and the welfare of its people. It emphasized that Kenya is bigger than any political party, individual, or election cycle and called for unity in protecting the country's long-term economic interests.
