Gachagua Meets Jimmy Wanjigi as Consultations on 2027 Political Plans Continue

Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has intensified his political consultations ahead of the 2027 General Election, hosting businessman and politician Jimmy Wanjigi at his Wamunyoro residence.

In a statement shared after the meeting, Gachagua said the discussions focused on what he described as Kenya's "liberation cause" and the formation of the country's next administration.

"Pleased to have held consultations with businessman Jimmy Wanjigi, who called on me at the Wamunyoro residence," Gachagua said. "The liberation cause of our country and the formation of the sixth administration is so critical that we must get views from all. I have greatly benefited from his insights and experience in the formation of governments. Consultations continue. God bless Kenya."

The meeting comes as Gachagua continues to engage political leaders, professionals and influential figures in what appears to be a broader effort to build alliances ahead of the next election cycle.

Wanjigi, a prominent businessman who has remained active in Kenya's political landscape for years, has previously positioned himself as a key player in opposition politics and has often spoken about the need for governance reforms. His meeting with Gachagua is likely to fuel speculation about possible political realignments as leaders begin laying the groundwork for the 2027 polls.

Although neither Gachagua nor Wanjigi disclosed specific details of their discussions, the former deputy president emphasized the importance of drawing on diverse perspectives in shaping the country's future leadership.

The consultations are taking place amid heightened political activity, with various leaders across the political divide holding strategy meetings as the race to shape Kenya's next administration gradually gathers momentum.

For Gachagua, the Wamunyoro meetings have increasingly become a platform for engaging allies and stakeholders as he seeks to define his political direction following his departure from government. His latest engagement with Wanjigi signals that those consultations are far from over, with Gachagua insisting that more meetings will follow in the coming months.
