PS Susan Auma Mang’eni Celebrates National Recognition for Outstanding Ministry Performance

Principal Secretary in the State Department for MSME Development Hon. Susan Auma Mang’eni has lauded the Ministry of Cooperatives and MSME Development after it was recognized as the Most Improved Ministry in Performance Contracting during the National Productivity and Performance Conference 2026 held at the Kenya School of Government grounds in Nairobi.

The award was presented by President William Ruto, with PS Mang’eni receiving the accolade on behalf of Cabinet Secretary Wycliffe Oparanya.

Speaking after receiving the award, the PS described the recognition as a reflection of the ministry’s collective commitment to excellence, efficiency, competence, and results-oriented service delivery in advancing the government's Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA).

Mang’eni credited the achievement to the leadership of CS Oparanya and the dedication of the entire ministry team, noting that deliberate efforts have been made to strengthen performance, improve productivity, and ensure impactful delivery of programs targeting Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) across the country.

She further acknowledged the critical role played by development partners, industry leaders, and stakeholders within the MSME ecosystem, describing their collaboration as instrumental in achieving the ministry’s objectives.

The Principal Secretary emphasized that the ultimate beneficiaries of the ministry’s work are Kenyan MSMEs, whose growth and success remain at the center of government interventions aimed at creating jobs, expanding enterprise opportunities, and strengthening the economy.

Mang’eni dedicated the award to all stakeholders who continue to support the MSME sector, stating that the recognition serves as motivation to work even harder in delivering transformative programs and services.

She expressed optimism about the future, noting that the ministry remains focused on achieving even greater milestones in empowering entrepreneurs and supporting business growth across the country.

The recognition at the National Productivity and Performance Conference underscores the ministry’s growing reputation for effective service delivery and commitment to driving economic empowerment through support for small businesses and enterprise development.

“Hongera, Hii Ni Yetu Sote,”PS Mang’eni said, celebrating the achievement as a shared success for the ministry, its partners, and the millions of MSMEs that form the backbone of Kenya’s economy.
