Ruto Hosts Gor Mahia at State House After Historic 22nd League Title Triumph

President William Ruto on Sunday hosted Gor Mahia Football Club at State House, Nairobi, in recognition of the club's remarkable achievement of winning the 2025/2026 SportPesa Premier League title and securing a historic 22nd league championship.

Congratulating the record Kenyan champions, the President hailed the team's success as a testament to their grit, consistency, determination, and discipline, qualities that have enabled K'Ogalo to remain a dominant force in Kenyan football for decades.

“This admirable achievement is a clear testament of the grit, consistency, determination, and discipline that Gor Mahia have shown season after season, bringing immense joy to their fanbase and the country,” President Ruto said.

The Head of State attributed the club's latest triumph to strong unity within the team, effective management both on and off the pitch, and an unwavering commitment to excellence.

President Ruto noted that Gor Mahia's rich legacy extends beyond football, describing the club as an important part of Kenya's identity. He said the team's success continues to inspire young people across the country to pursue their ambitions, nurture their talents, embrace teamwork, and strive for greatness.

“For decades, Gor Mahia has been more than a club; it is part of Kenya's identity. The team's rich legacy continues to inspire young Kenyans to chase their goals, fully express their talents, work as a team, and remain competitive,” he said.

As the club prepares to represent Kenya in the upcoming CAF Champions League campaign, the President expressed confidence that Gor Mahia will carry the hopes and pride of the nation onto the continental stage.

“May this milestone be the start of even bigger glories for the club and for Kenyan football. Hongera K'Ogalo,” he added.

The President also reaffirmed the government's commitment to supporting youth through sports development and infrastructure investment.

He announced that the government is on course to complete 28 new stadiums within the next year, a move aimed at expanding access to modern sporting facilities across the country.

“We will keep investing in modern, world-class sporting facilities across the country to give every young person in every part of Kenya an opportunity to realise their dreams,” President Ruto said.

The State House reception underscored the government's growing focus on sports as a key avenue for youth empowerment, talent development, and national unity.

Gor Mahia's latest league triumph further cements the club's position as Kenya's most successful football team and sets the stage for another campaign on the continental front.
