Nandi Residents Blast Felix Koskei Over Alleged 2027 Succession Politics

A section of residents from Mosop Constituency has strongly criticized remarks made by Chief of Staff and Head of Public Service Felix Koskei concerning Nandi County's leadership ahead of the 2027 General Election.

Speaking during a public gathering, the residents accused Koskei of interfering in local political affairs and attempting to influence the county's future leadership. They argued that discussions surrounding the 2027 gubernatorial race are premature and risk diverting attention from pressing development issues affecting residents.

The group expressed concern that leaders should focus on improving the welfare of wananchi and supporting ongoing development projects instead of engaging in early political campaigns.

The residents also condemned attacks directed at former Nandi Governor Cleophas Lagat by individuals believed to be supporters of Koskei. They maintained that political differences should not be used to discredit leaders who have previously served the county.

"We will not allow outsiders to dictate to us who should lead Nandi County. The people will make that decision when the right time comes," one resident said.

The residents urged politicians and public servants to promote unity, peaceful coexistence, and issue-based politics rather than engage in divisive rhetoric. They emphasized that the people of Nandi will independently choose their leaders through a democratic process in 2027.

The group further called on leaders to avoid personal attacks and instead focus on addressing key challenges facing residents, including infrastructure development, healthcare services, agricultural support, and employment opportunities for the youth.

They reiterated that political competition should be driven by ideas, performance, and development records rather than hostility, adding that mutual respect among leaders is essential for maintaining harmony as preparations for the 2027 elections gradually take shape.
