Murkomen Praises Kalya Cultural Dancers, Pledges Support for Kenyan Artistes Ahead of 13th Anniversary Celebration

Cabinet Secretary for Interior and National Administration Kipchumba Murkomen has reaffirmed the government's commitment to supporting Kenyan artistes, describing music as a powerful force for preserving cultural heritage, promoting unity, and driving positive social change.

Speaking after hosting Ms. Christine Cherop of Kalya Cultural Dancers for a courtesy call on Tuesday afternoon, Murkomen lauded the group's contribution to the country's cultural and entertainment landscape ahead of its 13th anniversary celebration scheduled for this weekend.

The Interior CS said that beyond providing a source of livelihood for thousands of artistes, music continues to play a critical role in educating communities, promoting positive values, and safeguarding Kenya's rich cultural traditions.

Murkomen praised Christine Cherop and the Kalya Cultural Dancers for their dedication over the past 13 years, noting that the group has consistently entertained audiences while using music to pass on important life lessons to generations of Kenyans.

"Besides being a source of livelihood for many of our artistes, music remains a powerful tool for driving positive change in society and preserving cultural heritage," Murkomen said.
