Murkomen Hails Wajir Madaraka Day Celebrations as Symbol of National Inclusion

 Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen has described the hosting of this year's Madaraka Day celebrations in Wajir County as a significant milestone in the government's efforts to foster national unity, inclusion, and equitable development across the country.

Speaking during the 63rd Madaraka Day celebrations at Wajir Stadium, Murkomen said the event demonstrated the government's commitment to ensuring that all regions, including historically marginalized areas, benefit from national development initiatives.

"The hosting of this year's Madaraka Day celebrations in Wajir County is yet another powerful testament to our commitment to building an inclusive and equitable society, as envisioned by our founding fathers," he said.

The Interior CS reaffirmed the Ministry's commitment to addressing security challenges across the country, noting that a secure environment remains critical for sustainable economic and social development.

"As a Ministry, we remain committed to curbing all security threats in all parts of our country to create an enabling environment for sustainable development," Murkomen stated.

He also highlighted ongoing efforts to implement a presidential directive abolishing extra-vetting requirements for national identity card applications in border counties, describing the move as a major step toward eliminating discrimination and enhancing access to government services.

According to Murkomen, the government is expanding administrative units and security infrastructure in remote regions while decentralizing key services such as civil registration, immigration, and passport processing to improve accessibility and efficiency.

"We continue to walk the inclusivity talk, bringing essential services closer to wananchi wherever they are in our republic," he said.

The celebrations were attended by President William Ruto, Deputy President Kithure Kindiki, other national and county leaders, and thousands of residents from across the region.

Murkomen commended President Ruto for choosing Wajir as the host county for this year's national celebrations, describing the decision as historic and reflective of the administration's commitment to fostering unity and equal opportunities for all Kenyans.

"We salute H.E. the President for this historic celebration and for his unwavering commitment to building a united, inclusive, and equitable nation," he said.
