MANDAGO LEADS SENATE HEALTH TALKS WITH BARINGO GOVERNOR, PUSHES FOR URGENT HEALTHCARE REFORMS

Senate Health Committee Chairperson Jackson Mandago has reaffirmed the committee's commitment to strengthening county healthcare services after leading a high-level meeting with the Governor of Baringo County to address key challenges affecting the health sector.

In a statement shared after the meeting, Mandago said the discussions focused on improving healthcare delivery, expanding access to medical services, and enhancing the quality of care for residents across Baringo County.

"Today, I led a vital Senate Health Committee meeting with Baringo County's Governor. We tackled core healthcare delivery challenges and identified concrete actions to improve care access and quality for Baringo residents," Mandago said.

He noted that the Senate Health Committee remains committed to supporting county governments in addressing gaps in healthcare systems through oversight, policy guidance, and collaboration with relevant stakeholders.

The meeting comes at a time when many counties continue to face challenges such as inadequate medical personnel, shortages of essential medicines, limited health infrastructure, and financial constraints that have affected service delivery.

Mandago emphasized that strengthening county health systems is essential to ensuring that Kenyans receive quality, affordable, and accessible healthcare regardless of where they live.

The Senate Health Committee is expected to continue engaging county governments across the country as part of its oversight role to ensure devolved health services are effectively delivered and that resources allocated to the sector translate into improved health outcomes for citizens.
