Lusaka Rallies Western Kenya Behind Ruto's 2027 Bid, Urges Mass Voter Registration

 Bungoma Governor Kenneth Lusaka has intensified campaigns for President William Ruto's 2027 re-election, urging residents across Western Kenya to register as voters in large numbers to help secure what he described as an overwhelming victory for the Head of State.

Speaking during a fundraiser at Nabing'eng'e Senior School in Tongaren Constituency to support the purchase of a school bus, Lusaka said the region holds immense political influence and must capitalize on its numerical strength by ensuring every eligible citizen registers to vote.

"We have the numbers to shape the country's political future. Every eligible resident must register as a voter and obtain a national identity card. That is how we shall guarantee President William Ruto a landslide victory in 2027," Lusaka declared to an enthusiastic crowd.

The governor noted that despite Bungoma being among Kenya's most populous counties, it has yet to achieve the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) target of one million registered voters. He challenged local leaders, youth, and residents to spearhead voter registration efforts ahead of the next General Election.

Lusaka, who serves as President Ruto's Western Region re-election coordinator, praised the Kenya Kwanza administration for what he termed equitable development across the country. He argued that Western Kenya has significantly benefited from key infrastructure and economic projects initiated by the national government.

Among the flagship projects he highlighted were the appointment of a new contractor to fast-track the construction of the Misikhu–Naitiri Road, the near completion of the county-funded Naitiri–Brigadier Road, ongoing works on the Turbo–Sikhendu Road, the construction of the Naitiri Modern Market, the Affordable Housing Programme, and the Kanduyi Smart City project.

"President Ruto has demonstrated through action that development reaches every part of the country. He deserves a second term to complete the transformation agenda that is already changing lives," Lusaka said.

The governor also dismissed the recent tour of Western Kenya by opposition leaders, describing it as a political excursion devoid of meaningful development proposals.

"Residents should not be misled by political rhetoric and empty promises. Our priority is to support President Ruto's re-election in 2027. Once that mission is accomplished, Western Kenya will be strategically positioned to pursue national leadership in 2032," he added.

Lusaka called on political leaders across the region to unite behind a common development agenda instead of engaging in divisive politics, saying unity would strengthen Western Kenya's bargaining power at the national level.

The fundraiser was hosted by Tongaren MP John Chikati and attended by National Assembly Speaker Dr. Moses Wetang'ula, President Ruto's aide Farouk Kibet, Bungoma Senator Wafula Wakoli, Members of Parliament, county leaders, and other political figures from the region.

The remarks come as political activity begins to gather momentum ahead of the 2027 General Election, with both the ruling coalition and the opposition stepping up grassroots mobilization across key voting blocs. Western Kenya is expected to remain one of the country's most closely watched political battlegrounds as leaders seek to consolidate support in the coming months.
