Lands CS Alice Wahome Presides Over Historic Opening of Nyandarua Lands Office

Cabinet Secretary for Lands, Public Works, Housing and Urban Development Hon. Alice Wahome has hailed the official opening of the Nyandarua Lands Office as a transformative milestone that will revolutionize access to land services for residents of the county.

Speaking during the inauguration ceremony in Ol Kalou, the CS noted that the new office brings to an end more than six decades of challenges that forced residents to travel long distances in pursuit of land services and title deeds.

In a major boost to land ownership and economic empowerment, the government issued **27,000 title deeds** to beneficiaries from colonial villages, securing property rights for thousands of families and unlocking new opportunities for investment, development, and wealth creation.

Wahome further revealed that out of more than **400,000 land records**, approximately **296,000 records** have now been transferred from Nyahururu to Ol Kalou. The move is expected to significantly improve efficiency, reduce waiting times, and bring essential land services closer to the people of Nyandarua.

The Cabinet Secretary emphasized that secure land ownership remains a cornerstone of economic growth, social stability, and community development. She noted that the government is committed to ensuring that every Kenyan has access to efficient and transparent land administration services.

The event brought together several national and county leaders, including Tourism and Wildlife Cabinet Secretary Rebecca Miano, Lands Principal Secretary Nixon Korir, Nyandarua Governor Moses Kiarie Badilisha, Nyandarua Woman Representative Faith Wairimu Gitau, Roads Principal Secretary Joseph Mbugua, and former Public Service Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria.

The leaders reaffirmed their commitment to bringing government services closer to citizens and strengthening land ownership rights as a key pillar of national development.

For Nyandarua residents, the opening of the lands office represents a new era of convenience, efficiency, and accessibility, ensuring that critical land services can now be obtained closer to home.

The initiative is expected to accelerate land registration, reduce administrative bottlenecks, resolve ownership challenges, and contribute to the broader economic transformation of the county and the country at large.
