Five men were killed in a suspected execution-style attack in Bangale Sub-County, Tana River County, after armed attackers reportedly abducted or rounded them up before taking them to a remote location where they were shot dead.

According to preliminary reports, the assailants tied the victims' hands in pairs before opening fire, killing them on the spot. Most of the victims sustained fatal gunshot wounds to the head.

The incident came to light after a camel herder heard gunshots and noticed armed men in the area. He immediately alerted local elders, who rushed to the scene and discovered the bodies of the five men lying on the ground.

Police officers later arrived at the scene, secured the area, and launched investigations. Detectives documented evidence and confirmed that the victims had suffered multiple gunshot wounds.

Security agencies have since intensified operations across the region as investigators pursue leads that could help identify the attackers and establish the motive behind the killings. Authorities suspect the attack may be linked to ongoing security challenges in parts of Bangale Sub-County.

Local leaders have condemned the killings, describing them as barbaric and unacceptable. They urged residents to remain calm and cooperate with security agencies as investigations continue.

Police have vowed to track down those responsible and bring them to justice, while appealing to members of the public to provide any information that may assist in the ongoing investigations.
