Women, youth, and persons with disabilities (PWDs) across Nairobi County have received a major economic boost after the National Government Affirmative Action Fund (NGAAF) disbursed KSh 43.3 million in grants to registered community groups in a move aimed at accelerating grassroots empowerment and improving livelihoods.

The grant awards, announced during a colourful ceremony attended by leaders and beneficiaries from across the county, are expected to strengthen community-based enterprises, support income-generating projects, and enhance financial inclusion among vulnerable groups.

The event also marked the official introduction of the new NGAAF Nairobi County Committee, which has been tasked with overseeing the implementation of NGAAF programmes and ensuring that government resources and opportunities reach deserving beneficiaries efficiently and transparently.

Speaking during the ceremony, the host described the occasion as a significant milestone in the county's journey towards inclusive development, noting that the newly constituted committee will work closely with stakeholders to expand economic opportunities for women, empower young people, and improve the welfare of persons with disabilities.

The event was graced by NGAAF Chief Executive Officer Grace Wasike, who served as the Chief Guest. She reaffirmed the fund's commitment to supporting vulnerable populations through targeted empowerment programmes that promote entrepreneurship, education, social welfare, and sustainable livelihoods.

Leaders present pledged to work hand in hand with the new committee to ensure effective implementation of NGAAF initiatives, saying the grants would help transform lives by enabling community groups to expand businesses, create employment, and reduce poverty.

The KSh 43.3 million disbursement is part of NGAAF's broader mission of promoting equitable access to government resources while strengthening grassroots development through affirmative action programmes.

Organisers also clarified that photographs shared from the event were intended solely to capture the significance of the occasion and should not be interpreted as confirmation of beneficiary status.

The latest funding is expected to inject fresh momentum into community development initiatives across Nairobi County as the government intensifies efforts to empower women, youth, and persons with disabilities through sustainable economic support.
