Youth Leader Appointed to Nyandarua Public Service Board

A 24-year-old from Tumaini village in Ol Kalou has been appointed to the Nyandarua County Public Service Board, marking a significant step in promoting youth inclusion in leadership within the county.

Ms Miriam Thigari, one of the youngest appointees to the board, is expected to bring fresh perspectives and represent the interests of young people in county governance. Her appointment has been welcomed by local leaders as a positive move toward empowering youth in decision-making processes.

Nyandarua Governor Kiarie Badilisha said the county government is committed to supporting young people by creating opportunities for their growth and participation in leadership. He noted that plans are already in place to fast-track youth welfare programmes and expand economic opportunities across the county.

“The youth must be included in leadership because they have the ability and capacity to deliver,” said Badilisha, emphasising the importance of involving young people in shaping the county’s future.

The governor added that integrating youth into governance structures will not only nurture leadership skills but also ensure policies reflect the needs and aspirations of a younger population.

Ms Thigari’s appointment is seen as part of a broader strategy by the county administration to strengthen inclusivity and tap into the potential of young leaders to drive development and innovation in Nyandarua.
