Jackson Mandago Defends Gladys Boss Shollei Over Disrupted Moiben Milk Coolers Launch

A fresh political storm has erupted in Uasin Gishu County after Senator Jackson Mandago came to the defense of Deputy Speaker Gladys Boss Shollei following the disruption of a milk cooler flag-off event in Moiben.

Speaking during a public gathering, Mandago dismissed criticism directed at Shollei over plans to launch the dairy project, insisting the milk coolers were sourced through the national government and were intended to benefit local farmers.

The senator accused leaders of engaging in unnecessary political competition instead of focusing on development, urging Jonathan Bii Chelilim to embrace cooperation with fellow leaders regardless of political affiliation.

“Leadership is about service delivery, not fighting over who gets credit. If a project benefits residents of Uasin Gishu, leaders should support it instead of turning development into political battles,” Mandago said.

The remarks come amid growing tensions between county and national leaders over ownership of development projects in the region. The disrupted Moiben event has sparked debate among residents and political observers, with some accusing leaders of prioritizing political supremacy over the needs of dairy farmers.

Shollei had been expected to officially flag off the milk coolers aimed at improving milk storage and boosting earnings for local farmers in the dairy-rich region. However, the event reportedly descended into chaos before the launch could proceed smoothly.

Mandago maintained that development projects should unite leaders and not divide them, warning that political wrangles risk slowing down key initiatives meant to uplift residents.

The incident has now intensified political rivalry in Uasin Gishu, setting the stage for renewed debate over leadership, collaboration, and control of development agendas ahead of future political contests.
