Governor George Natembeya Meets Agikuyu Community Leaders to Discuss Development and Unity
George Natembeya today held a consultative meeting with representatives of the Agikuyu community drawn from various parts of the Western region in a move aimed at strengthening unity, collaboration, and development among communities.
The meeting, which brought together community leaders, professionals, elders, and other stakeholders, focused on issues affecting residents and explored ways of fostering partnerships that can support social and economic growth within the region.
Speaking during the engagement, Governor Natembeya described the discussions as candid, productive, and necessary in addressing the challenges facing communities while promoting peaceful coexistence and inclusive development.
The governor said leaders have a responsibility to create platforms that encourage dialogue and understanding among different communities, noting that unity remains essential in achieving meaningful and sustainable progress.
“We held open and honest discussions on matters affecting our people and explored practical ways through which we can work together for the benefit of our communities and the nation at large,” said Natembeya.
He emphasized the importance of collaboration between leaders and communities in addressing key concerns such as economic empowerment, youth opportunities, business growth, education, infrastructure, and social cohesion.
According to the governor, development can only be realized when communities work together and embrace inclusivity regardless of ethnic or political differences.
Natembeya reiterated his commitment to fostering partnerships that promote peace, unity, and equal opportunities for all residents within the region.
“I remain firmly committed to building strong partnerships and championing real, lasting progress for our community and the nation as a whole,” he stated.
The governor also underscored the need for leaders to focus on development-oriented politics that prioritize the welfare of wananchi instead of divisive narratives that undermine unity.
He noted that the Western region has immense potential for economic growth and social transformation if leaders and communities unite around common development goals.
Community representatives who attended the meeting welcomed the engagement and praised the governor for creating an open forum where concerns affecting residents could be discussed freely.
Several leaders described the discussions as timely and important in strengthening relationships between communities living in the region.
They further called for continued dialogue and cooperation among leaders to ensure inclusive growth, peaceful coexistence, and improved service delivery to wananchi.
The meeting comes at a time when leaders across the country are increasingly emphasizing national unity, inclusivity, and community-driven development as key pillars in addressing socio-economic challenges facing citizens.
Stakeholders who attended the discussions expressed optimism that the engagement would pave the way for stronger cooperation and future partnerships aimed at empowering communities and promoting sustainable development across the Western region.
