Sudi Fires Back at Gachagua Over IEBC Claims, Dismisses Allegations as “Cheap Political Propaganda” Amid Rising Election Tensions
Kapseret Member of Parliament Oscar Sudi has launched a strong rebuttal against former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua following explosive allegations linking him to alleged secret meetings with officials from the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) aimed at influencing the outcome of the upcoming Emurua Dikirr elections.
Gachagua had earlier suggested that certain political figures were engaging in behind-the-scenes engagements with electoral officials to predetermine results in the hotly contested constituency race. The claims quickly sparked political debate and drew sharp reactions from leaders allied to the accused.
In a fiery response, Sudi dismissed the allegations outright, terming them baseless, misleading, and politically driven. He accused Gachagua of attempting to spread propaganda in order to gain political mileage rather than engaging in issue-based politics.
“These are completely unfounded claims. There is no truth whatsoever in the allegations being circulated. Instead of spreading rumours and trying to destroy people’s names, leaders should focus on selling their agenda to the people,” Sudi said.
The outspoken legislator further challenged Gachagua to substantiate his claims, warning that reckless political statements risk undermining public trust in democratic institutions, including the electoral body.
Sudi maintained that he has no involvement in any meetings or arrangements aimed at influencing electoral outcomes, insisting that his political focus remains on development and service delivery.
The IEBC, which is constitutionally mandated to oversee and conduct elections in Kenya, has not publicly responded to the allegations. However, the claims have already stirred debate on the integrity of the electoral process and the conduct of political leaders as the country edges closer to key electoral contests.
Political analysts note that the exchange reflects growing tensions within Kenya’s political landscape, where rival camps are increasingly trading accusations in a charged pre-election environment.
The war of words between Sudi and Gachagua is expected to intensify scrutiny on political messaging in the coming weeks, especially as campaigns in various regions gain momentum.
As the Emurua Dikirr race draws closer, attention is now shifting to whether electoral authorities will address the allegations and whether political leaders will temper their rhetoric in a bid to maintain public confidence in the democratic process.
