Police Recover Illegal Firearms in Isiolo Security Operation
The National Police Service has intensified its crackdown on illegal firearms following the successful recovery of four weapons during a coordinated multi-agency security operation in Isiolo County.
In a statement, police said the operation—conducted in the Lowangila and Ariemet areas—was intelligence-led and involved close collaboration between various security agencies. The exercise forms part of ongoing efforts to curb insecurity and dismantle illegal arms networks in the region.
According to authorities, the recovered cache includes two G3 rifles, one M16 rifle, and one AK-47 rifle. Officers also seized four magazines along with rounds of ammunition during the operation.
Police confirmed that all the recovered firearms have since been documented and secured as investigations continue, with further action expected against individuals linked to the weapons.
Security officials noted that the operation underscores the government’s commitment to restoring peace and stability in areas previously affected by insecurity and proliferation of illegal arms.
The National Police Service has called on members of the public to remain vigilant and support security efforts by sharing information that could help in the recovery of more illegal firearms and the arrest of suspects.
Kenyans have been encouraged to report suspicious activities through toll-free numbers 999 and 911, or anonymously via the Fichua Kwa DCI platform on 0800 722 203 or WhatsApp 0709 570 000.
Authorities say public cooperation remains a key pillar in the fight against crime, as security agencies continue to scale up operations aimed at ensuring safety across the country.
