Natembeya Hands Over New Home to Bungoma Music Legend in Dignity Drive

Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya has officially handed over a newly constructed house to celebrated musician Wanyonyi Omukoyi in Chwele, in a move aimed at restoring dignity and supporting vulnerable members of the community.

The house, built through the George Natembeya Foundation, is part of a broader housing initiative targeting disadvantaged individuals across the region. The program focuses on providing safe shelter while uplifting livelihoods and honoring individuals who have made significant cultural contributions.

Speaking during the handover ceremony in Bungoma County, Natembeya said leadership must be defined by compassion and tangible action. He noted that supporting Omukoyi was not only about providing a home, but also about recognizing and celebrating a figure whose music has had lasting impact on the community.

“This is about restoring dignity and standing with those who have given so much to society,” he said.

Residents and local leaders who attended the event welcomed the initiative, describing it as a meaningful intervention in addressing housing challenges and social inequality in the area.

The governor reaffirmed his commitment to expanding similar projects through his foundation, saying more families and individuals in need will benefit from the ongoing program.

The initiative underscores a growing focus on community-centered development, as leaders seek practical solutions to improve living standards and strengthen social support systems.
