Mt. Elgon Information Officer Douglas Mudambo to be laid to rest in Bungoma

The late Douglas Mudambo, who served as the Mt. Elgon Sub-County Information Officer, will be laid to rest on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, at his home in Sikulu, Tongaren Sub-County, Bungoma County.

Mudambo passed away on Tuesday, April 7, at around 2 a.m. at Webuye Sub-County Referral Hospital, where he had been admitted a day earlier after a short illness.

According to family sources, the body will be moved from a funeral home in Kimilili on Tuesday, April 14, ahead of an overnight vigil at his home in Sikulu before the burial the following day.

Mourners have continued to gather at the family home, where colleagues from various media houses in Bungoma County joined relatives to pay tribute, describing him as a committed and dependable team player during his service with the Kenya News Agency in Mt. Elgon.

Local leaders, including Mt. Elgon Deputy County Commissioner Nicholas Kijupa, sent messages of condolence to the family, praising Mudambo’s dedication to public communication and service.

He is survived by his wife, Benedick Kipkarich, and five children.
