Over 60 Coaches Complete Kiambu County Football Coaching Training Program

More than 60 football coaches from across Kiambu County have completed an intensive training program aimed at improving technical coaching skills, professionalism and youth player development.

The Kiambu County Football Coaching Training Program was spearheaded by the county’s Department of Youth Affairs, Sports and Communication in partnership with the Football Kenya Federation.

The initiative was officially launched in Thika by County Executive Committee Member for Youth Affairs, Sports and Communication Ali Osman.

The week-long program brought together coaches drawn from all 60 wards in the county. Training sessions were conducted in Thika and Limuru, combining both theoretical and practical learning.

Participants underwent five days of foundational coaching training followed by a three-day refresher course aligned with the CAF D Diploma.

During the sessions, coaches took part in practical drills and tactical exercises designed to enhance their understanding of modern football coaching techniques and improve their ability to nurture young players.

County officials said the program forms part of the Kiambu County government’s broader efforts to strengthen grassroots football and create a structured pathway for identifying and developing local talent.

By equipping coaches with updated training methods and professional standards, the county hopes to boost youth participation in sports and support the growth of football at the community level.

Sports officials noted that well-trained coaches are critical in guiding young athletes, improving team performance and building a sustainable football culture across the county.
