H.E. Flora Mbetsa Chibule Strengthens Maternal and Child Health Through Strategic Partnerships

Earlier today, the Deputy Governor of Kilifi County, H.E. Flora Mbetsa Chibule, received a comprehensive status update on the Okoa Mama na Mtoto Initiative Programme (OMMI) from H.E. Nazi Kivutha and her delegation.

The three-year programme, currently being implemented across the county, is focused on reducing maternal, newborn, and child mortality through strengthened healthcare systems and impactful community-based interventions.

Progress shared during the meeting highlighted strong collaboration between county leadership, health stakeholders, and grassroots organizations. Implementation is actively ongoing in key sub-counties including Rabai, Ganze, and Kilifi South—with targeted efforts on improving access to skilled delivery, maternal nutrition, and neonatal care services.

Under the leadership of H.E. Flora Mbetsa Chibule, Kilifi County Government continues to prioritize healthcare transformation, particularly for mothers and children. Her commitment is evident in fostering partnerships that deliver real impact at the community level and strengthen the overall health system.

Working closely with partners such as the SHINA Foundation and the Kilifi Department of Health and Sanitation Services, the county is steadily advancing its agenda of reducing preventable deaths and improving health outcomes.

The Deputy Governor reaffirmed the county’s full support for the OMMI programme, noting that investing in maternal and child health is fundamental to building a healthier, stronger, and more resilient society.
