Uasin Gishu Journalists Condole Senator Jackson Mandago Following Death of His Mother

The leadership and members of the Uasin Gishu Journalists Association, led by Chairperson James Gitaka, Vice Chairperson Edmoind Kipngeno, and Treasurer Elvis Wasike, and other members  paid a condolence visit to Uasin Gishu County Senator Jackson Mandago at his residence following the death of his mother, Mama Esther Lelei.

Mama Esther Lelei passed away while undergoing treatment at Eldoret Hospital, an occurrence that has plunged the Mandago family into mourning and drawn an outpouring of sympathy from leaders, institutions, and residents across Uasin Gishu County and the wider region.

During the visit, the journalists expressed their heartfelt condolences and stood in solidarity with the Senator and his family during the difficult period of grief. They described Mama Esther as a loving mother and a strong matriarch whose guidance, discipline, and values shaped her family and left a lasting impact on the community.

Speaking on behalf of the association, Chairperson James Gitaka said the media fraternity in Uasin Gishu felt compelled to personally convey their sympathies to the family, noting that journalists not only report on events but also share in the joys and sorrows of the society they serve.

“As journalists, we stand with Senator Mandago and his family in this moment of pain. We continue to keep them in our prayers and ask God to grant them strength and comfort,” Gitaka said.

Vice Chairperson Edmoind Kipngeno and Treasurer Elvis Wasike echoed the sentiments, affirming the association’s commitment to supporting the family and joining other Kenyans in mourning the loss of Mama Esther Lelei.

Senator Mandago thanked the journalists for the visit and for their continued support, noting that the presence of the media fraternity was a source of encouragement to the family during the trying moment.

Mama Esther Lelei will be laid to rest on Monday, February 10, at the family’s rural home in Limnyimoi Village, Uasin Gishu County, where family members, friends, leaders, and residents are expected to gather to pay their last respects.

The Mandago family has expressed gratitude to all those who have sent messages of condolence, offered prayers, and provided support as they prepare to lay their beloved mother to rest.
