MP Kiplagat Urges Uasin Gishu Residents to Back Mandago for Second Term
Soy MP Hon. David Kiplagat has called on residents of Uasin Gishu County to allow Senator Jackson Mandago to serve a second term unopposed, saying this would enable the senator to focus on campaigning for President William Samoei Ruto’s re-election across the country.
Speaking during a public meeting in the county, Kiplagat said Mandago’s experience and influence would be better utilised at the national level if he is not tied down by a bruising local contest. He argued that a second term for Mandago would strengthen the region’s political standing within the Kenya Kwanza administration.
The legislator also claimed that the political attacks directed at Mandago and his allies are driven by succession politics within the Kalenjin community. Kiplagat alleged that Kapseret MP Oscar Kipchumba Sudi is leading a political onslaught against them because of their support for Mandago in the ongoing realignments ahead of future leadership transitions in the region.
Kiplagat urged leaders and residents to remain united, warning that internal divisions could weaken the community’s bargaining power nationally. He maintained that supporting Mandago’s second term would not only ensure stability in Uasin Gishu politics but also bolster President Ruto’s re-election bid by allowing key allies to mobilise support beyond the county.
