Huruma Ward DCP Candidate Harun Mwega Maina Secures Full Scholarship for Bright Student

Deputy County President (DCP) aspirant for Huruma Ward, Harun Mwega Maina, has secured a full scholarship for Catherine Awinja, a Grade 10 student at Kandie Secondary School, covering her education for the next three years. The scholarship includes tuition, school fees, and other academic requirements, ensuring that Catherine can focus fully on her studies without the burden of financial constraints.

In a statement, Mwega Maina described Catherine as a very bright and promising student whose hard work and dedication have earned her the opportunity. “I wish Catherine success as she begins this important phase of her academic journey. Her talent and determination are inspiring, and I am confident she will excel and make both her family and community proud,” he said.

The DCP candidate emphasized that education is a cornerstone of his leadership agenda, particularly in Huruma Ward, where many talented students face financial barriers that limit their academic potential. “Education opens doors to opportunity, empowerment, and social transformation. Supporting our young people to access quality education is not just an investment in their future, but also in the development of our entire community,” Mwega Maina said.

He noted that the scholarship program is part of broader initiatives he plans to implement to support students across the ward. These include mentorship programs, skills development workshops, and partnerships with local schools to identify and nurture exceptional talent.

Residents and education stakeholders have lauded the initiative, calling it a bold step in promoting educational equity and inspiring other students to strive for excellence. Many praised Mwega Maina for leading by example, showing that leaders can directly impact the lives of young people through targeted interventions.

“This scholarship will not only benefit Catherine, but it will also serve as a motivation for other students in Huruma Ward to work hard and believe that leadership is committed to supporting education,” said one local community leader.

Mwega Maina reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring that bright students in Huruma Ward receive the necessary support to pursue their dreams, stressing that education will remain a central pillar in his 2027 leadership agenda.

“Every talented student deserves a chance to succeed, and I will continue to champion initiatives that empower our youth to realize their potential,” he said, pledging that more scholarships and educational support programs will be rolled out in the coming months.

Catherine Awinja is expected to commence her studies at Kandie Secondary School next term, marking the start of a new chapter in her academic journey, made possible through community-driven support and leadership that prioritizes education.
