Kimore Boys Senior School Admits First Grade 10 Learners Under Competency Based Education
The Principal Secretary to the National Treasury, Dr Chris Kiptoo, has hailed a historic milestone in the education sector following the admission of the first cohort of Grade 10 learners at Kimore Boys Senior School, a National School Category 1 (C1) public transboundary institution serving both Elgeyo Marakwet and Uasin Gishu counties.
Speaking during the landmark admission, Dr Kiptoo noted that the school is among the few national institutions implementing the Competency Based Education (CBE) system and is offering all three approved learning pathways, marking a major step in aligning Kenya’s education system with the needs and talents of learners.
Kimore Boys Senior School draws students from across the country, reinforcing its national status and its role in promoting inclusivity, diversity and equal access to quality education.
Dr Kiptoo said the establishment of the school was inspired by a long-held vision, nurtured through close collaboration with the Kimore community, and driven by the belief that every child deserves access to quality and transformative education.
“This institution was conceived long before its formal initiation three years ago. What began as an idea rooted in hope and purpose has now become a reality that will shape generations,” Dr Kiptoo said.
He expressed appreciation to the various partners and stakeholders whose support made the dream possible, singling out the Ministry of Education, Kenya Forest Service, M-Pesa Foundation, National Irrigation Authority (NIA), Co-operative Bank, KCB Bank, Kenya Ports Authority, and Kenya Pipeline Company, among others.
According to Dr Kiptoo, the successful admission of the inaugural Grade 10 class lays a strong foundation for the school’s future, positioning it as a centre of excellence for nurturing talent, character and leadership among young Kenyans.
“This inaugural admission is a proud moment not just for Kimore, but for the nation. It represents a firm foundation for nurturing future national leaders who will drive Kenya’s social and economic transformation,” he said.
The admission of the first cohort under the CBE framework marks a significant chapter in Kenya’s ongoing education reforms, with Kimore Boys Senior School expected to play a key role in shaping the future of senior secondary education in the country.
