Diaspora Affairs PS Roseline Njogu Launches Disability Support Work Mobility Pilot with Canada
The Government of Kenya has signed a Letter of Intent with Athari Global, a diaspora-owned Canadian firm, to train Kenyans in disability support work and connect them with employment opportunities in Canada.
Speaking during the signing, Diaspora Affairs Principal Secretary Roseline Njogu said the partnership marks a significant milestone in the government’s efforts to create structured and dignified labour mobility pathways for Kenyan talent abroad.
The pilot project, which is part of the government’s Muuguzi Majuu Programme, has already enrolled approximately 30 Kenyans, with numbers expected to grow as the initiative scales up.
“This partnership demonstrates that structured mobility pathways work. By investing in skills development locally and linking trained professionals to global labour markets, we are opening sustainable opportunities for our people while meeting international workforce needs,” Njogu said.
The programme aligns with the government’s broader Kazi Majuu agenda, which seeks to promote safe, ethical, and mutually beneficial labour migration for Kenyans.
Athari Global is a diaspora-owned firm based in Canada, specialising in workforce development and international talent placement, particularly in the care and support sector.
