8,820 Youth Receive Ksh220.5m NYOTA Grants in Kisumu, Siaya and Homa Bay
A total of 8,820 young entrepreneurs from 105 wards in Kisumu, Siaya and Homa Bay counties have received Ksh220.5 million under the NYOTA Business Start-Up Capital Grants (Enigma Edition), in a ceremony presided over by President William Ruto.
Speaking at the event, Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Principal Secretary Susan Auma Mang’eni said the disbursement reflects the government’s commitment to youth-led enterprise and job creation. She lauded President Ruto for prioritising young people through the NYOTA Project, which targets over 820,000 youth nationwide.
The Chairperson of the National Assembly’s Trade, Industry and Cooperatives Committee and Ikolomani MP, Bernard Shinali, urged county governments to align with national efforts to accelerate youth economic empowerment.
County governments present pledged business licence waivers and support with Social Health Authority (SHA) subscriptions, assuring beneficiaries of a safer environment to grow their enterprises.
The government said NYOTA beneficiaries—dubbed “Dala” entrepreneurs—will continue to receive mentorship and linkages to local business ecosystems to enhance sustainability and growth.
