Uasin Gishu County Bans Children’s Play Areas Near Bars and Drinking Establishments
The County Government of Uasin Gishu has issued a public notice banning the establishment of children’s play areas within or near bars, pubs, clubs, and any premises licensed to sell alcoholic beverages.
The directive, released by the Department of Health Services, aims to protect children from exposure to alcohol-related environments and associated risks. It comes as part of the county’s ongoing efforts to safeguard public health, promote child protection, and ensure the safety and well-being of young residents.
According to the notice, business owners are required to comply with the ban. Children are not permitted to access or remain within premises that sell alcoholic drinks, and any establishment found violating the directive will face strict enforcement measures. These may include fines, closure of the premises, or prosecution in accordance with the law.
Chief Officer for Promotive and Preventive Health, Uasin Gishu County, emphasized that the measure is in the best interest of children. “This directive is designed to protect our children from environments that may endanger their safety, health, and overall development,” the notice reads.
The county government has called on residents and business owners to adhere to the notice to ensure that children grow up in safe and healthy surroundings, free from exposure to alcohol-related risks.
This move aligns with broader national efforts to promote child welfare and prevent exposure to harmful substances, reflecting Uasin Gishu County’s commitment to safeguarding its youngest residents.
