Government Completes 640-Bed Dormitory at Alliance High School to Boost Student Welfare

The State Department for Housing and Urban Development, through the Affordable Housing Programme—which also incorporates Institutional Housing—has completed a modern four-storey dormitory at Alliance High School, significantly enhancing the institution’s residential capacity.

The newly constructed facility is designed to accommodate 640 students and features 40 well-planned cubicles on each floor. Each level houses 160 learners in secure, orderly, and comfortable living spaces tailored to support students’ academic and personal development.

Education stakeholders say the purpose-built residence will play a critical role in improving student welfare while positioning the school to handle increased enrolment and evolving programmatic demands. This is particularly timely as the Competency-Based Education (CBE) curriculum transitions to Senior School in January, a shift expected to require expanded infrastructure and enhanced student support systems.

Upon completion, the dormitory will be formally handed over to the Ministry of Education to ensure seamless integration into Alliance High School’s academic and administrative operations.

The project also underscores the broader role of government in safeguarding public institutions. By providing structured and secure living spaces, the initiative aligns with the Ministry of Interior and National Administration’s mandate to promote safety, order, and coordinated delivery of public services across the country.

The Alliance High School dormitory forms part of a wider national effort to strengthen learning environments through modern, resilient infrastructure that supports quality education and student wellbeing.
