CS Aden Duale Commissions Tawheed Mosque and Islamic Centre in Eldoret, Calls for Unity and Responsible Religious Practice

Cabinet Secretary for Health, Hon. Aden Duale, on Saturday presided over the commissioning of the Tawheed Mosque and Islamic Centre in Eldoret City, a major milestone for religious worship and education in the region. The event was hosted by Governor H.E. Jonathan Bii (Koti Moja) and drew religious leaders, county officials, educators, and members of the community.

The mosque, designed to accommodate 800 male and 500 female worshippers, also houses an Islamic school aimed at integrating religious studies with formal education. Speaking at the ceremony, CS Duale hailed the project as a beacon of faith, learning, and community development, noting that such initiatives strengthen societal values while fostering communal cohesion.

In addition to the commissioning, CS Duale served as the Chief Guest at the 11th Graduation Ceremony of Al Hayat Islamic Integrated School, where he congratulated the graduating students for their hard work and dedication. He emphasized the critical role of education in shaping moral character, promoting discipline, and building a society founded on integrity and mutual respect.

During the visit, the Cabinet Secretary also inspected the ongoing construction of a nine-storey commercial and residential waqf building for Jamia Mosque Eldoret and other mosques across Uasin Gishu County. CS Duale lauded the initiative, noting that waqf projects are essential for sustainable community development, providing both commercial opportunities and spaces to support religious activities.

Addressing the public, CS Duale called on residents to embrace unity and peaceful coexistence, urging them to reject leaders who promote division along ethnic or religious lines. “Our diversity is our strength,” he said. “We must work together to build a society where every community lives in harmony and mutual respect.”

CS Duale also reminded religious leaders and preachers of their responsibility in the community. He cautioned against making unsubstantiated claims about healing or cures, stressing that matters of health and life must always be guided by science, ethics, and evidence-based medicine, even as faith plays an important role in spiritual life.

“Faith and science must complement one another. While religious belief strengthens hope and resilience, decisions regarding health must always be grounded in professional medical guidance,” he said.

The commissioning of the Tawheed Mosque and Islamic Centre, alongside the graduation ceremony, marked a significant milestone for religious development, education, and interfaith harmony in Uasin Gishu County. Residents and leaders lauded the projects for strengthening community ties and providing platforms for spiritual growth and lifelong learning.

The CS concluded by urging all Kenyans to value education, embrace responsible leadership, and foster unity across faiths and communities, highlighting that sustainable national development begins at the community level.
