UDA Launches Two-Week Sensitisation Program Ahead of January Grassroots Elections
United Democratic Alliance (UDA) Secretary General Senator Hassan Omar on Monday led the launch of a two-week nationwide sensitisation program in Kericho County, marking a major step toward the party’s upcoming grassroots elections scheduled for January 10, 2026.
The exercise is designed to prepare party supporters for the electoral process they will undergo when selecting grassroots leaders across 20 counties. According to the party, the sensitisation will focus heavily on familiarising members with the newly introduced electronic voting and tallying system, which aims to enhance transparency, efficiency and accountability.
Speaking during the kickoff, Sen. Omar emphasized the party’s commitment to conducting credible and participatory polls.
“This sensitisation program ensures every member understands the new electronic system and the procedures they will follow on voting day. Our goal is to deliver a transparent and accountable grassroots election,” he said.
Kericho is the first stop in the two-week exercise, with similar activities planned in Bomet, Kakamega, Kirinyaga, Elgeyo Marakwet, Nandi, Kiambu, Uasin Gishu, Laikipia, Nyandarua, Vihiga, Nyeri, Baringo, Nakuru, Murang’a, Trans Nzoia, Embu, Samburu and Meru counties.
Sen. Omar was accompanied by members of the National Elections Board, including Vice Chair Veronica Kiberenge, Jimmy Kahindi, Mary Mutinga, and Halake Dida. Also present were Executive Director Nicodemus Bore, Deputy Executive Director Higgins Mbugua, Legal Affairs Director Emmanuel Kibet, and several Secretariat staff.
The party hopes that by the end of the sensitisation drive, members across the targeted counties will be fully equipped to participate effectively in the electronic grassroots elections, marking a significant milestone in UDA’s internal democratic processes.
