Malala Calls for Swift Probe into Death of Former Lugari MP Cyrus Jirongo
Former Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malala has called for speedy and thorough investigations into the death of former Lugari Member of Parliament Hon. Cyrus Jirongo, citing unanswered questions surrounding the nature and timing of his passing.
Speaking on Tuesday evening after leading a delegation of senior political leaders to Jirongo’s Nairobi home, Malala said the gathering was meant to stand in solidarity with the family, friends, and relatives of the late lawmaker during their time of grief.
The delegation included Party Leader H.E. Rigathi Gachagua, EGH, Wiper Leader H.E. Kalonzo Musyoka, DAP-K Party Leader Hon. Eugene L. Wamalwa, Democratic Party Leader Hon. JB Muturi, and other leaders from across the political divide.
“Cyrus Jirongo was a steadfast leader, true to the core and sincere in his endeavors,” Malala said. “He will be remembered for his generosity, benevolence, and pragmatic approach to issues that affected his constituents and the nation at large.”
Malala noted that while the country mourns a seasoned public servant, questions remain regarding the circumstances surrounding Jirongo’s death. He urged relevant authorities to act with urgency and transparency to establish the exact cause.
“There are several loose threads that have been left hanging,” he said. “For the sake of closure to his family, friends, relatives, and constituents, we demand swift and credible investigations into the exact cause of his unfortunate demise.”
Jirongo, a former Lugari lawmaker, was a prominent figure in Kenya’s political landscape and was widely respected for his philanthropy and influence beyond elective politics.
As condolences continue to pour in from across the country, Malala called on Kenyans to honor Jirongo’s legacy by upholding unity and compassion during the mourning period.
“May the soul of Cyrus Jirongo rest in peace,” Malala said, “and may eternal peace be upon him forever.”
