Keiyo South MP Demands KSh 50,000 Refund from Artist Vicky Brilliance Over No-Show at Sonko Tournament

Keiyo South Member of Parliament Dr. Gideon Kimaiyo has publicly demanded a refund of KSh 50,000 from renowned Kalenjin artist Vicky Brilliance, after she allegedly failed to appear for a scheduled performance at the Sonko Football Tournament finals held recently at the Kaptagat grounds.

In a statement shared on social media, the MP — popularly known in the region for championing the annual Sonko Tournament — described the artist’s absence as unprofessional and unacceptable, especially after he had paid a deposit of KSh 50,000 as a performance fee ahead of the event. Dr. Kimaiyo warned that if such behaviour continued, it would be dealt with strictly.

“Kama hii ni tabia yako, itakoma. Ulikula ya Hon Jematia… sasa ya Keiyo South utarudisha… You are very young to start these games,” the MP said in a stern rebuke, referencing similar funds previously received from other official engagements and urging the artist to return the money promptly.

According to the MP, Vicky Brilliance had been expected to perform during the tournament’s final weekend, which draws hundreds of local supporters and serves as a major engagement event for youth and constituents in the area. However, the artist’s no-show prompted a strong reaction from organizers and disappointed fans alike.

Dr. Kimaiyo has reportedly given a deadline for the refund, warning that failure to comply could lead to further action.

The Sonko Tournament, an initiative of the Keiyo South MP, aims to harness community spirit and youth participation through football, providing both entertainment and outreach across the constituency.

Efforts to reach Vicky Brilliance or her representatives for comment on the refund demand have not yet been reported.
