ETTI Celebrates the Graduation of Over 1,800 Students in 11th Graduation Ceremony
By Wasike Elvis
Eldoret Technical Training Institute (ETTI) proudly marked a monumental achievement today as it conferred certificates and diplomas to over 1,800 students in its 11th Graduation Ceremony. The event, attended by students, faculty, parents, and distinguished guests, symbolized not only the culmination of years of hard work but also the beginning of new and exciting journeys for the graduates.
A New Beginning for ETTI Graduates
Principal Dr. Albert Boss, in his keynote address, expressed immense pride and joy as he congratulated the graduates for reaching this significant milestone in their academic careers. "Today marks the end of one chapter and the beginning of another in your lives," Dr. Boss said. "You have worked hard, overcome challenges, and grown in ways you might not even realize. You should be incredibly proud of what you have achieved."
The principal took a moment to reflect on the graduates' journey, reminding them of their beginnings at ETTI. Many, he noted, joined the institution directly from high school, uncertain about their career paths but eager to explore new opportunities. "When you first joined ETTI, you were ready to take on the world, but unsure of what lay ahead. Today, you leave as professionals, equipped with knowledge, skills, and experiences that will serve you for years to come," he said.
Dr. Boss encouraged the graduates to embrace the uncertainty of the future, recognizing that while the world offers vast opportunities, it can also be unpredictable. "The future ahead of you is vast, full of opportunity, but also unpredictable. Welcome this uncertainty. Let it fuel your curiosity, your desire to keep learning, and your drive to keep moving forward," he advised. He further stressed that this sense of curiosity and resilience would help them navigate life's challenges and remain successful in their future endeavors.
Building on the Foundation of Friendship and Learning
In his speech, Dr. Boss urged the graduates to reflect on their time at ETTI—not just the academic achievements, but also the friendships they had forged and the valuable lessons learned both in and out of the classroom. "Think about the friendships you've built, the lessons you've learned, and the experiences you've shared. These will serve as the foundation on which you will build your future," he said.
He also reminded the graduates to be kind to themselves and to others, as well as to remain focused on the core values that will guide them through life—hard work, discipline, integrity, and kindness. "Celebrate your successes, learn from your failures, and always believe in your ability to make a difference in the world," Dr. Boss said, emphasizing the importance of believing in their own potential to create positive change.
Rising Above Challenges: The Value of Resilience
The principal’s speech also touched on resilience, urging the graduates not to be afraid of taking risks or failing. "Don’t be afraid to take risks, to fail, and to get back up. The future is bright, but it won’t always be easy. Embrace the challenges, learn from them, and keep pushing forward," he encouraged.
Dr. Boss also took time to express gratitude to the parents and guardians who had supported the graduates throughout their academic journey. "We know that many of you faced financial and personal challenges to ensure that your children could attend ETTI. Your sacrifice and commitment to their success have played a vital role in their achievements today," he said, acknowledging the invaluable contribution of families in the students' education. He also thanked the lecturers and staff at ETTI, who had worked tirelessly to guide the students through their programs, providing mentorship and support throughout their time at the institution.
Deputy Principal's Encouragement: A Call to Dream Big
Deputy Principal of Administration, Engineer Kemboi Jackson, also delivered a stirring address to the graduates. He urged them to dream big, fly high, and pursue their goals with passion and dedication. "Today is a testament to your hard work and perseverance, but it is just the beginning," Engineer Jackson said. "Let your achievements today pave the way to new and greater destinations."
He emphasized the importance of believing in themselves and their abilities. "The world needs your brilliance. You have proven that you are capable of achieving anything with determination and dedication. Keep striving to make a difference and push the boundaries of what is possible," he said.
Engineer Jackson reminded the graduates that they are now entering a world that is constantly evolving and changing. "Mark today as the beginning of an exciting new journey. It's time to color the world with your talent and creativity. Be bold, be brave, and keep going as you strengthen your success with every step you take."
Chief Guest Prof. Paul Kiprotich Kimurto Applauds ETTI
The ceremony was further graced by Prof. Paul Kiprotich Kimurto, Professor of Agriculture and Agribusiness and Director of the Agroscience Park Innovation Centre at Egerton University, who served as the chief guest. Prof. Kimurto lauded the institution’s administration for a job well done, describing ETTI as “among the best institutions in the country” and encouraging parents to consider ETTI for their children.
He urged the graduates to view ETTI as a stepping stone for further education, emphasizing the importance of continuous learning and personal development. “Use this institution as a foundation for your future. Continue with your education, expand your knowledge, and always strive for excellence,” Prof. Kimurto said. He also extended his heartfelt congratulations to the graduates for their hard work and achievements.
A Celebration of Success and Hope for the Future
The ceremony was a heartfelt celebration of not just the students' academic achievements, but also their personal growth, resilience, and transformation over the years at ETTI. The graduates were encouraged to take pride in the journey that brought them here, while also looking forward to the next steps in their careers, whether they choose to enter the workforce or continue their education.
In his closing remarks, Dr. Boss urged the graduates to use their diplomas and certificates as stepping stones for even greater accomplishments. "Congratulations to all of you for reaching this milestone. Be proud of yourselves, but don’t stop here. Continue learning, growing, and striving for more," he said. "May God bless each one of you as you embark on this new chapter of your lives. We are excited to see the incredible things you will accomplish in the future."
