Eldoret City Strengthens Status as Business and Investment Hub with Launch of Wajose Smartwear
Uasin Gishu Governor Jonathan Chelilim Bii has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to transforming Eldoret City into a vibrant hub for business, innovation and investment, citing deliberate policy reforms aimed at improving the ease of doing business and attracting both local and international investors.
Speaking during the official opening of Wajose Smartwear in Eldoret City, Governor Bii said the county government had prioritized efficiency, service delivery and investor support as key pillars of economic growth. He highlighted the establishment of a One-Stop Service Desk that has significantly reduced bureaucracy, with most services now being offered in under five minutes.
“Eldoret City is rapidly emerging as a vibrant hub for business, innovation and opportunity. Through deliberate reforms, including a One-Stop Service Desk with an average service time of under five minutes, we have streamlined processes to make it easier and faster to do business,” Governor Bii said.
The governor further noted that his administration has introduced reduced tax incentives and created a business-friendly regulatory environment to support entrepreneurs at all stages, from start-ups to established enterprises.
“By offering reduced tax incentives and fostering a supportive, investor-friendly environment, we are laying a strong foundation for enterprises to start, grow and thrive. Our goal is to make Eldoret City a preferred destination for investment and job creation,” he added.
The launch of Wajose Smartwear, located at the heart of the City of Champions, was attended by several leaders, including Kapseret Member of Parliament Hon. Oscar Sudi, Rift Valley MP Hon. Joseph Wainaina, ward representatives and county officials. The leaders joined businessman James Muchiri, popularly known as Wajose, in officially opening the new outlet.
Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi emphasized the critical role played by small and medium-sized enterprises in driving economic development, noting that supporting local entrepreneurs is key to sustaining growth and transforming Eldoret into a 24-hour economy.
“Alongside Governor Jonathan Bii, MP Joseph Wainaina and our ward representatives, we joined businessman James Muchiri alias Wajose to launch Wajose Smartwear in Eldoret City. Supporting small businesses like this is essential to growing Eldoret’s economy and making it a 24-hour hub,” Sudi said.
He added that empowering local entrepreneurs not only creates employment opportunities for the youth but also promotes innovation and enhances the city’s competitiveness.
“When we back local entrepreneurs, we create jobs, boost innovation and ensure our city continues to thrive. This is how we build a strong and sustainable local economy,” the legislator said.
Businessman James Muchiri thanked the county leadership for creating a conducive environment for investors and expressed optimism that Eldoret City offers immense opportunities for business growth due to improved infrastructure, efficient service delivery and supportive policies.
The opening of Wajose Smartwear adds to the growing number of enterprises setting up operations in Eldoret, reflecting increasing investor confidence in the city.
