Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen joined President H.E. William Samoei Ruto, senior government officials, and hundreds of Kenyans from all walks of life to celebrate the nation’s 62nd Jamhuri Day at Nyayo National Stadium.
In an address commemorating Kenya’s Independence and Republican milestones, CS Murkomen expressed profound gratitude to the founding fathers and mothers whose sacrifices secured the freedoms Kenyans enjoy today.
“We are eternally grateful to the founding fathers and mothers of our nation who paid a heavy price to secure the freedoms we enjoy today,” said CS Murkomen. “Their courage and vision laid the foundation for the Kenya we are building together.”
President Ruto, in his national address, highlighted the strides the country has made in socio-economic transformation, noting the progress achieved across various sectors. The Head of State also outlined a forward-looking agenda that seeks to deepen development and expand opportunities for all citizens.
CS Murkomen echoed the President’s message, emphasizing the importance of unity, service, and national cohesion as key pillars in driving Kenya’s development agenda.
“As we rededicate ourselves to nation-building in honour of the sacrifices of our forerunners, we, as a Ministry, will do all in our power to ensure peace and security, which is the foundation of all development,” he said.
The Interior CS reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to safeguarding the rights and freedoms of Kenyans, underscoring that security remains central to sustainable growth and prosperity.
He further urged all Kenyans to uphold peace, respect national values, and contribute positively to the country’s growth, particularly as Kenya continues to navigate complex regional and global challenges.
The Jamhuri Day celebrations, marked with pomp and national pride, brought together leaders and citizens in a shared spirit of patriotism and reflection on the nation’s journey since independence.
