Vihiga County Signs MoU to Boost Reliability of CT Scan Services

Vihiga County has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Zhemchen Technologies aimed at ensuring reliable and uninterrupted CT scan services at the Vihiga County Referral Hospital (VCRH).

The new partnership comes after years of recurring breakdowns of key biomedical equipment, which have disrupted diagnostic services and limited access to timely medical care for residents.

Speaking during the signing ceremony, Governor Dr. Wilber Khasilwa Ottichilo said the agreement marks a major step toward strengthening the county’s diagnostic capacity. He emphasized that consistent maintenance and technical support will help resolve long-standing challenges affecting the CT scan machine at VCRH.

Dr. Ottichilo added that the County Government plans to deepen its collaboration with Zhemchen Technologies, with a focus on acquiring additional modern medical equipment and improving efficiency across health facilities.

Under the MoU, Zhemchen Technologies will be responsible for the operation, maintenance, repair, and servicing of the CT scan machine. The company will also ensure a steady supply of essential consumables needed to keep the service running smoothly.

The agreement further includes training for the county’s biomedical engineering staff on routine maintenance procedures. County officials say this will empower local technical teams, reduce equipment downtime, and promote sustainable, reliable diagnostic services for the community.

The initiative is expected to significantly improve access to essential diagnostic care for Vihiga residents, enhancing overall healthcare delivery in the county.
