TENP and AITEC Sign MoU to Strengthen RPL Implementation

Eldoret, Kenya, November 3, 2025 – The Eldoret National Polytechnic (TENP) has taken another major step in advancing the Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) agenda after signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the African International Technical College (AITEC).

The agreement, signed on Monday, November 3, 2025, paves the way for AITEC to operate as a TENP RPL Assessment Centre, marking a significant milestone in scaling up RPL implementation across the country.

During the signing ceremony, TENP was represented by the Deputy Principal (Academics), Madam Peninnah Ogutu, alongside the Registrar (Academics) and the RPL Coordinator. AITEC was represented by its Managing Director and CEO, Dr. Noah Chepkech, and the Marketing Manager.

The collaboration underscores TENP’s commitment to expanding access to skills recognition and promoting lifelong learning opportunities. Through the RPL framework, individuals with demonstrable skills and experience—acquired outside the formal education system—can now have their competencies assessed and certified, enhancing their employability and career progression.

Speaking during the event, both institutions reaffirmed their shared vision of empowering Kenyans through practical and inclusive education pathways.

This partnership adds to TENP’s growing network of RPL assessment centres nationwide and strengthens the institution’s leadership in advancing technical and vocational education and training (TVET) in Kenya.

“Through such partnerships and collaborations, TENP continues to champion lifelong learning, skills development, and employability for all Kenyans,” the institution said in a statement.

The MoU signifies an important stride toward creating a flexible, competency-based education system that recognizes and rewards skills, experience, and innovation at every level.
