Nandi Flags Off Athlete Registration and Roadshow for the Third Edition of the Great Chepsaita Cross Country

The County Government of Nandi has officially flagged off the athlete registration and roadshow for the third edition of the Great Chepsaita Cross Country, slated for December 6.

The event, which has grown to become one of the region’s premier athletics competitions, continues to serve as a key platform for identifying and nurturing athletic talent while promoting education and community development.

Speaking during the flag-off ceremony, Nandi Governor Stephen Sang lauded the initiative’s Race Patron, Hon. Farouk Kibet, for his visionary leadership and unwavering commitment to youth empowerment through sports.

“We extend our sincere appreciation to the Race Patron, Hon. Farouk Kibet, for his visionary leadership in championing this noble initiative under the theme ‘Run for Education.’ His dedication continues to inspire our youth to pursue excellence both on and off the track,” said Governor Sang.

The Governor reaffirmed the County’s commitment to supporting programmes that merge sports development with educational advancement, emphasizing that true empowerment of young people lies in balancing talent and knowledge.

“As a County, we remain steadfast in supporting initiatives that not only identify and nurture athletic talent but also integrate education as a cornerstone for holistic youth empowerment and community development,” he added.

The Great Chepsaita Cross Country has, over the years, provided a platform for upcoming athletes to showcase their abilities while highlighting the importance of education in building sustainable futures.

Governor Sang further encouraged young athletes from across the county and beyond to take part in this year’s edition, noting that such events play a vital role in cementing Nandi’s reputation as the “Source of Champions.”

“The Chepsaita Cross Country continues to offer a platform for talent development and education. We are proud to see our young people embrace these opportunities, carrying forward our county’s rich athletic legacy while investing in their own education,” Governor Sang concluded.
