Kirinyaga Senator James Murango Urges Government to Confirm JSS Intern Teachers
Kirinyaga Senator James Murango has called on the government to immediately confirm Junior Secondary School (JSS) intern teachers into permanent and pensionable terms, citing their critical role in the successful implementation of the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC).
Senator Murango, who is widely regarded as the de facto incoming Governor of Kirinyaga County, emphasized that the JSS intern teachers have demonstrated exceptional commitment and professionalism over the past year, ensuring a smooth learning transition for students across the country.
“Our JSS intern teachers have worked tirelessly for over a year, ensuring our learners transition smoothly under the new curriculum. They have done their part with dedication and sacrifice, yet the government continues to delay their confirmation,” he said.
“This is unfair and demoralizing. These teachers deserve job security, respect, and recognition for the crucial role they play in shaping the future of our nation.”
The Senator urged the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) and the Ministry of Education to act swiftly and issue confirmation letters before the expiry of the current internship contracts.
“We cannot continue exploiting the very people entrusted with nurturing our children’s education. The government must do the right thing — confirm the JSS intern teachers now,” he added.
Murango reaffirmed his commitment to championing the welfare of educators, noting that investing in teachers is investing in the country’s future.
