Eldoret National Polytechnic TVET Fair Team Celebrated For Outstanding Performance at KATTI National Competition

The Eldoret National Polytechnic (TENP) community came alive on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, as students, trainers, and staff gathered to celebrate the exemplary achievements of the institution’s Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Fairs team. The ceremony marked the official presentation of trophies and medals won at the Kenya Association of Technical Training Institutions (KATTI) National TVET Fairs Competition, held in Mombasa from September 29 to November 1, 2025.

The event, filled with pride and excitement, saw the trainees who represented Eldoret National Polytechnic showcase their awards to the Chief Principal, Dr. Charles Koech, OGW, and the entire polytechnic community. Their outstanding performance placed the institution among the top innovators and skill leaders in Kenya’s TVET sector, reaffirming its position as a hub for creativity, research, and technical excellence.

In his speech, Dr. Koech warmly congratulated the team for their determination, teamwork, and innovative spirit. He lauded the students and trainers for their hard work and for demonstrating the true potential of technical education in driving national development.

“Your achievements are not just personal victories but a reflection of the great strides we have made as an institution,” said Dr. Koech. “At Eldoret National Polytechnic, we believe in empowering young people with practical skills, entrepreneurial knowledge, and innovative thinking that can transform our industries and communities.”

He further reiterated that the institution’s success at the national level is anchored in its Quality Statement, which pledges to provide high-quality TVET and entrepreneurial training while advancing research and innovation. Dr. Koech noted that such commitments continue to guide the polytechnic’s efforts to produce graduates who are competent, creative, and responsive to the changing demands of the job market.

The Chief Principal also used the occasion to thank the trainers who mentored and guided the students throughout their preparation for the competition. He emphasized that the trainers’ dedication, expertise, and mentorship play a crucial role in shaping the next generation of innovators and professionals in Kenya’s technical fields.

The KATTI National TVET Fairs Competition is an annual event that brings together trainees and trainers from technical and vocational institutions across the country. Participants present innovations, projects, and research solutions that address real-world challenges in areas such as engineering, information technology, renewable energy, business, and applied sciences. The fair serves as a platform for exchanging ideas, showcasing creativity, and promoting collaboration among TVET institutions.

Eldoret National Polytechnic’s strong showing at the 2025 edition of the competition highlighted its continued investment in research and innovation. Many of the showcased projects focused on sustainable technologies, automation, and entrepreneurship—areas that align with the country’s Vision 2030 and the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA).

Speaking on behalf of the trainees, one of the team leaders expressed gratitude to the institution for its continuous support and encouragement.

“This recognition means a lot to us,” she said. “We are motivated to keep improving our skills and innovating solutions that can benefit our communities and the nation at large.”

As the celebration came to a close, Dr. Koech encouraged both students and staff to build on this success and continue pushing the boundaries of innovation. He reminded them that the polytechnic’s mission extends beyond academic achievement—it seeks to develop well-rounded graduates equipped with technical, entrepreneurial, and leadership skills needed to drive Kenya’s industrial growth.
