Construction of New Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital Begins in Kiplombe

The construction of the much-anticipated new Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH) in Kiplombe, Uasin Gishu County, has officially commenced, marking a major milestone in Kenya’s healthcare development journey.

The 4,000-bed multi-specialty facility is set to significantly enhance access to advanced, quality healthcare services for millions of Kenyans. As the country’s population continues to grow rapidly, the new hospital will complement the existing network of 138 public health facilities and strengthen the country’s capacity to deliver specialized medical care.

Once complete, the ultra-modern MTRH will serve as a major regional medical hub for the North Rift region and beyond, positioning Eldoret as a center of excellence in medical training, research, and specialized treatment across East Africa.

Local leaders and residents have welcomed the project, noting that it will not only improve health outcomes but also create thousands of jobs during and after construction.

In his remarks, leaders commended His Excellency President William Samoei Ruto for championing the establishment of the new facility, describing it as a transformative investment in the nation’s health system and a testament to the government’s commitment to equitable healthcare access for all Kenyans.

They also urged that the project be implemented with transparency and integrity to ensure that its intended purpose—to uplift lives and strengthen healthcare delivery—is fully realized for the benefit of the people, and never diverted for personal gain.

The new Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital represents a bold step toward achieving universal health coverage and ensuring that every Kenyan can access quality, affordable, and specialized healthcare close to home.
