Buzeki Sends Condolences to Elgeyo Marakwet Landslide Victims, Commends Swift Government Response
Former Uasin Gishu gubernatorial aspirant Zedekiah Bundotich, popularly known as Buzeki, has expressed his heartfelt condolences to the families affected by the tragic landslide in Elgeyo Marakwet County, which claimed several lives following days of heavy rainfall.
In a message shared on Sunday, Buzeki described the incident as heartbreaking, offering prayers and solidarity to the grieving families and the entire Elgeyo Marakwet community.
“My deepest condolences to the families in Elgeyo Marakwet who have lost their loved ones in the tragic landslide caused by the heavy rains. This is heartbreaking. May God comfort every affected family, heal the injured, grant peace to the survivors, and give courage to the entire community during this painful moment,” he stated.
Buzeki further thanked the Government of Kenya (GOK) and Transport Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen for their swift intervention in managing the disaster and coordinating rescue efforts.
“We thank the GOK and Waziri Murkomen for his courage and quick intervention in containing the situation,” he said.
He also lauded community volunteers, local leaders, and well-wishers who joined hands in the rescue and relief efforts, calling their response a demonstration of true Kenyan solidarity.
“We appreciate all leaders, community volunteers, and well-wishers for their all-hands-on-deck approach,” Buzeki added.
The landslide, which occurred after continuous heavy rains, has left multiple families displaced and caused significant destruction to property. Search and rescue operations are ongoing as authorities and humanitarian agencies work to provide emergency assistance to the affected residents.
Buzeki urged Kenyans to continue praying for the victims and to support efforts aimed at restoring hope and rebuilding the devastated community.
“We stand in prayer and solidarity with the people of Elgeyo Marakwet. May the departed souls rest in eternal peace,” he concluded.
