Unity Call as Leaders Endorse Hon. Ndakwa to Carry Forward Malava’s Development Legacy
A strong message of unity and continuity resonated in Malava on Sunday as national and county leaders came together to endorse Hon. David Ndakwa as the preferred candidate in the upcoming Malava Constituency by-election slated for November 27, 2025.
The leaders, led by Kakamega Governor FCPA Fernandes Barasa, joined Speaker of the National Assembly Rt. Hon. Moses Wetang’ula, President William Ruto’s aide Mr. Farouk Kibet, and National Assembly Majority Leader Hon. Kimani Ichung’wah for a Sunday Mass and Family Day celebration at St. Teresa’s Malava Catholic Church.
The colourful ceremony brought together hundreds of worshippers, local leaders, and residents for prayers, thanksgiving, and a fundraiser to support the church’s development projects.
In his remarks, Governor Barasa commended the church for promoting unity, peace, and moral values, describing strong family foundations as key to building a prosperous and stable society.
“The church remains a pillar of moral guidance and social transformation. When families are strong, the community and county thrive,” he said.
The Governor further underscored the importance of collaboration between the County and National Governments to accelerate development, enhance service delivery, and sustain peace across Kakamega County.
Turning to politics, Governor Barasa joined other leaders in endorsing Hon. Ndakwa, describing him as a leader capable of sustaining and expanding the development legacy of the late Malava MP.
“Hon. Ndakwa understands the aspirations of the people of Malava and will build on the solid foundation laid by his predecessor. I urge residents to maintain peace during and after the election,” Barasa said.
Speaker Wetang’ula, Hon. Ichung’wah, and Mr. Kibet echoed Barasa’s sentiments, calling on the residents to unite behind Ndakwa under the UDA banner as a demonstration of political maturity and shared vision for development.
“This by-election should be a moment to strengthen unity, not division. Let us vote for progress and continuity,” Wetang’ula told the congregation.
Also present were Principal Secretary Dr. Beatrice Inyangala, several commissioners, Members of the County Assembly (MCAs), and county directors, who pledged their support for peaceful and issue-based campaigns.
