Uhuru Kenyatta Pays Respects at Raila Odinga’s Grave in Bondo
Former President Uhuru Kenyatta made a quiet visit to the grave of the late Raila Amollo Odinga in Kang'o Ka Jaramogi, Bondo, on Monday, a day after the burial of the former Prime Minister.
Accompanied by close aides and members of the Odinga family, Kenyatta laid a wreath at the gravesite and stood in solemn reflection at the final resting place of his longtime political ally and friend.
Sources close to the family described the visit as “deeply personal,” noting that the former President shared a private moment with Mama Ida Odinga before leaving the homestead.
Uhuru and Raila forged a political partnership through the 2018 “Handshake,” a truce that redefined Kenya’s political landscape and laid the foundation for national reconciliation. In his eulogy during Sunday’s state funeral, Kenyatta praised Raila as “a patriot, a visionary, and a brother in the struggle for a better Kenya.”
The visit underscores the enduring bond between the two leaders, even in death, and highlights the deep respect Kenyatta continues to hold for the Odinga family and their legacy.
