Tears of Joy in Kipsaos as Jane Yego Receives Motorized Wheelchair from Reuben Kigame Foundation
Joy, song, and heartfelt emotion filled the Kipsaos Full Gospel Church in Metkei Location, Elgeyo-Marakwet County this morning as Jane Yego, a resident of Molol in Keiyo South, received a life-changing gift — a motorized wheelchair — from the Reuben Kigame Foundation in partnership with the Jenga Mkenya team.
The donation was made in person by renowned gospel musician and disability rights advocate Dr. Reuben Kigame, who emphasized the importance of combining faith with social action. The momentous occasion began with a prayer of dedication led by Pastor Barsulai, after which the chair was officially handed over to Ms. Yego.
Speaking during the church service, Dr. Kigame shared that the request for assistance came through a local resident, Mr. Wilfred Yego, prompting him to make the journey personally rather than send the wheelchair through a courier.
“We drove hundreds of kilometres not only to hand over this chair but also to worship with the Kipsaos community and help them see the importance of integrating faith in God with social action,” said Dr. Kigame.
Quoting Matthew 25, he reminded the congregation of the biblical call to serve the needy:
“I was hungry and you did not feed me, thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink… Whatever you do to the least of these, you do unto me.”
Dr. Kigame urged residents to be mindful of the vulnerable within their own communities — the elderly living alone, children unable to attend school, widows, and orphans — and challenged them to demonstrate their faith through tangible acts of kindness.
“True faith must reach out for the salvation of our souls, but it must also include care ministries,” he said.
The community expressed deep gratitude for Dr. Kigame’s gesture and the compassionate work of his foundation. Mr. Wilfred Yego thanked him for his selfless example and resilience in overcoming challenges.
“We were heartbroken when you were locked out of the 2022 presidential race, but we continue to pray for you. If you can do this with limited resources, we believe your leadership would bring equitable distribution of resources across Kenya,” he said.
Dr. Kigame also engaged with the church’s youth, inviting them on stage to join him in singing “Father Teach Me How to Pray,” creating a touching and memorable moment for the congregation.
