Senator Mutinda Earns Global Honour with Election to Parliamentary Network Board

Senator Tabitha Mutinda has been elected to the Board of Governance of the Parliamentary Network on the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund (IMF), marking a significant achievement in her political career and elevating her profile on the international stage.

In a statement delivered to the Senate on Wednesday afternoon, Speaker Amason Jeffah Kingi extended his heartfelt congratulations to Senator Mutinda, urging her fellow lawmakers to lend full support as she takes on this prestigious global leadership role.

The Parliamentary Network Board is charged with providing strategic direction and oversight for the network's activities. Senator Mutinda will represent the East Africa Region on the Board during the 2025–2027 term, becoming a critical voice in advancing transparency, accountability, and development effectiveness in collaboration with the World Bank Group and the IMF.

The Parliamentary Network serves as a vital platform for legislators worldwide to engage with these international financial institutions. Its core mandate includes fostering dialogue among parliamentarians, civil society, and development actors, promoting good governance in public resource management, advocating for poverty reduction strategies, and supporting policies that drive inclusive and sustainable economic growth.

Senator Mutinda is set to officially assume her new role on 13th October 2025, coinciding with the Parliamentary engagements at the 2025 Annual Meetings of the World Bank and IMF.

Her election has been met with widespread acclaim from her Senate colleagues. Majority Leader Senator Aaron Cheruiyot (Kericho), Senator Enoch Wambua (Kitui), Senator Agnes Kavindu (Machakos), and Senator Joe Nyutu (Murang’a) all congratulated her, praising her outstanding record of service to the Kenyan people and expressing confidence in her ability to excel internationally.

The lawmakers pledged their full support to ensure Senator Mutinda fulfills her new responsibilities with excellence, highlighting the honour her achievement brings to both the Senate and the nation.

Senator Mutinda’s election underscores Kenya’s growing influence in global development discourse and signals a promising chapter for East Africa’s representation in international governance forums.
