President Ruto Hails Recovery of Over 600 Illegal Firearms in Kerio Valley

President William Ruto has commended security agencies and local communities for the recovery of more than 600 illegal firearms in the Kerio Valley, describing the milestone as a crucial step toward restoring lasting peace and stability in the region.

Speaking during a development tour of Baringo County, the President said the government remains steadfast in its commitment to end insecurity and foster socio-economic transformation in the North Rift.

“The recovery of over 600 illegal firearms marks a significant milestone in our collective pursuit of peace and security,” President Ruto said. “We urge all those still in possession of illicit firearms to surrender them voluntarily and join the path of peace — or face the full force of the law.”

The Head of State reiterated that the government will continue investing in peacebuilding initiatives, infrastructure, and economic empowerment programs to transform the Kerio Valley into a hub of development and opportunity.

Earlier, President Ruto inspected ongoing road construction projects in Baringo County and later engaged with residents of Kabarnet Town. He emphasized that improved infrastructure will enhance trade, connectivity, and access to essential services.

“Our shared agenda of development and transformation is unstoppable. We are building roads, schools, hospitals, and opportunities for every Kenyan,” he said.
