Police Recover Cannabis After Motorcycle Chase in Uasin Gishu County
Police officers from Turbo Police Station recovered a significant quantity of cannabis following a high-speed chase involving a motorcycle along the Kipkaren River–Beshabor road.
The incident occurred during routine patrols when officers signaled a motorcyclist carrying a pillion passenger to stop. Instead, the rider defied the police order, prompting a pursuit.
According to police reports, the suspects abandoned the motorcycle after a short distance and fled on foot, leaving behind a bag that was later found to contain 20 brooms of Cannabis sativa and a mobile phone. The suspects managed to escape and are currently being sought by the authorities.
"The motorcycle and the recovered cannabis have been seized and are being held in secure custody as exhibits," a police spokesperson confirmed.
No arrests have been made yet, but investigations and manhunt operations are ongoing.
The National Police Service (NPS) has reiterated its commitment to cracking down on drug trafficking and other forms of organized crime that threaten public safety, particularly among the youth.
"We urge members of the public to remain vigilant and to report any suspicious activities. Together, we can protect our communities from the harmful effects of illicit drugs," the NPS statement read.
