Parents Urged to Turn the Holiday Into a Season of Learning and Growth

Mwiki Good Hope Academy MGA Director Roseann Maina, has encouraged parents to use the December holiday as a period of purposeful growth, learning, and family bonding for their children.

She observed that as schools close for national examinations, many parents are once again faced with the challenge of keeping their children meaningfully engaged until the new term begins. Madam Roseann emphasized that this season should not only be about rest and celebration but also an opportunity to nurture young minds and build lifelong values.

According to Madam Roseann, identifying and supporting children’s natural talents is one of the best ways to make the holiday meaningful. “If your child has an interest in learning a musical instrument, skating, dancing, or even exploring a new language, this is the perfect time to help them grow those skills,” she said.

The Director also encouraged parents to introduce financial literacy at an early age by attaching small monetary rewards to household chores. This, she explained, helps children understand the value of work and develop a saving culture.

She concluded by reminding parents that the most valuable investment is their time and attention. “Our children long for our presence more than anything else. Let us guide, support, and remind them every day how important they are,” she said.
